Join Our Resource Team

Central to PUC’s mission is to bring vital resources to the communities that we work in and the populations that we serve. Therefore, we have established a Resource Team that is specifically designed to access such resources and implement them into PUC’s various projects to enhance its critical capacity. Students that participate in PUC’s Resource Team will hold specific positions within PUC’s various programs and play integral roles in its overall organizational management.

Below is a list of such positions, and descriptions of the expected activities.

A) Horticulturalists: Growing seedlings for PUC’s various farms and gardens, and serving as garden assistants to its expanding pilot projects.

B) Fundraisers: Researching and writing grants, planning and organizing fundraisers, and writing/distributing fundraising letters to build vital capital for the organization and it’s projects.

C) Researchers: Researching laws, permits, and local property, as well as permaculture techniques, methods, and resources that pertain to PUC’s program expansion.

D) Educators/Tutors/Mentors: Supervising, tutoring, and mentoring local children (ages 3 – 13) during our after-school program.

E) Financial/Organizational/Business Managers: Helping PUC’s executive board manage its finances, organize its legal and organizational documents, and publish its business plans in order to ensure its functioning as a sustainable non-profit.

    Hey

I read about PUC through the compass magazine. I graduated in jan. ’11 from Temple with a degree in criminal justice. Truth is, I had similar ideas of starting a project like this in NY. But most of all need some help from experienced farmers or students majoring in environmental sciences. Currently I have access to a small plot of land but would need help to grow produce. Also I’m really interested in purchasing generators and solar panels. Please email me back at your conviencence thank you.

      HI Westley,

This is Alex Epstein with the Philadelphia Urban Creators. I just read your message on our website, and I cannot tell you how excited I am to hear from you. Thanks so much for reaching out!

Im really glad that you are thinking along the same lines as us, and want to get something started in NYC. We are all about sharing ideas, resources, energy, etc. to help establish similar programs all over. In fact, we have just made some really great connections with a few public schools in NYC and are helping them to start school gardens under the umbrella of our new New York Urban Creators Chapter! So this may be perfect timing for both of us!

Im not sure where you are in NY, but if you’re in the city, we might actually be able to find a few ways to collaborate very soon.

Before I say any more though…..what are your thoughts? Where in NY are you, and what kind of project are you looking to create? Do you have anyone else working with you at this point?

Thanks again for reaching out….and shoot me an e mail back at: alex@phillyurbancreators.org

      Best,

      Alex
