Below is a description of each of the 7 focus-group “Teams” that make up Philadelphia Urban Creators, along with the names and contact information of each Team Leader.
All P.U.C. organizers ultimitely participate in each of these 7 categories in one way or another, but our “Teams” are designed so that each of us can focus on specific tasks so that we, as a collective, can maintain organization and continue to function efficiently. Group members are not restricted to any one Team, and may join as many as they chose as long as they remain accountable for the tasks that they are delegated.

Hello,
My name is April and I had the pleasure of meeting one of you education team leaders by the name of Jeaninne Kayembe. It was so refreshing to speak with such a knowledgeable and passionate being who believed in the greater cause of urban creating though agricultural development. I am writing to you because my parents own a 32-acre farm in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica named Jamaica Fun Farm. We are currently developing this farm into an agro-tourist retreat. Jeaninne informed me about all the wonderful project you participate in throughout the country therefore I am extending the olive branch in hopes of us trading ideas and hopefully visits. Farming in Jamaica has been on the decline for decades however the island remains rich in minerals and nutrients. A sad fact is Jamaica receives most of its food from the Miami port, which comes from can and boxes. The goal of our farm it to revive the agricultural economy by educating the community on how to grow produce and provide a forum where they can sell when the time is right. Often farmers are hear by word of mouth what to grow and then when the time comes to harvest, there are little to no buyers which often result in loss of initial investment. Through extensive research I can go on an on about the agricultural industry but I do not want to bore you. I am currently located in NY and am looking to relocate to Philadelphia within the next 60 days. (Employment pending) I spoke to my parents and they would love to get involved with your group. Please feel free to e-mail me anytime and I look forward to working with you in the future.
I am a Visual Artist, Teacher, native New Orleanian and Philly transplant. I have a background in Community Organizing/research/fundraising and education and I am itching to get involved and help any way that I can. Please let me know the best way to get involved.
